Advocate Nick Barnes

Nick undertakes all aspects of commercial and civil litigation including anti-money laundering, trust litigation, and banking litigation.

Nick was called to the English Bar in 1980 and qualified as a Guernsey Advocate in 1981. He is a Notary Public and an accredited mediator.

Nick is recommended in Chambers Europe as being acknowledged by peers as “everyone’s favourite referral. He’s nice, gentle and extremely bright.”

Advocate Clare Tee

Clare specialises in commercial and criminal litigation and has a broad range of experience acting for both international and local clients.

Clare was called to the English Bar in 1995 and qualified as a Guernsey Advocate in 1997. She previously held the role of Batonnier of the Guernsey Bar, the first female to do so. Clare is recommended in Chambers Europe for her robust approach in the courtroom.

Clare is regularly instructed in Royal Court serious criminal matters and appears in the Court of Appeal. She has particular experience in defending money laundering issues including confiscation orders and the proceeds of crime, gross negligence manslaughter, sexual offences. She has also been instructed to prosecute on behalf of the Crown.

She also deals with civil forfeiture orders and all aspects of commercial litigation including cross border disputes.

Advocate Jeremy Le Tissier

Jeremy Le Tissier practises all aspects of commercial litigation, trust matters and contentious insolvency. He advises on matters which include regulatory issues and investigations concerning entities regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, fraud and asset recovery, disputes relating to trusts, investment funds, banking and investments, claims against directors for breaches of duty and/or misfeasance and disputes between shareholders including unfair prejudice actions. He also advises on asset confiscation, money-laundering issues and cross-border disputes as well as proceeds-of-crime issues and arbitration.

Advocate Thomas Crawfourd

Tom undertakes all aspects of employment law as well a variety of dispute resolution work.

Tom trained as an English solicitor in Guernsey and qualified in 2002, after which he qualified as a Guernsey Advocate in 2004.

Karen Varley

Karen specialises in personal injury litigation, including motor claims, employers’ liability and medical negligence.

Karen trained in the City of London and qualified as an English solicitor in 1994. She has worked at firms in the South-East of England doing all types of personal injury work, including working in the serious injuries unit of the largest personal injury practice there.

Karen joined the firm in 2012 and now has experience of dealing with injury claims against local and UK insurance companies, local companies & the States of Guernsey.

Debbie Bourgaize

Debbie has extensive experience in dealing with all aspects of property matters for both individual and corporate clients. In addition to leading Conveyancing at abt, Debbie deals with estate administration and probate matters as well as the registration of Wills and Real estate.

Debbie has over 30 years’ experience working in legal practices in Guernsey and England.

Nick Taitz

Nick focuses on a range of contentious legal work, with a particular interest in regulatory and sanctions matters.  Nick has a wide range of commercial litigation experience, having been a partner of a leading South African dispute resolution firm for ten years before relocating to Guernsey in 2021.

Isabelle Foreshew

Issy is a paralegal assisting in all matters concerning civil and criminal litigation. She has been involved in a variety of white collar crime matters regarding corporate crime, money laundering, and asset forfeiture. She is based in London and Guernsey.

Issy joined abt in August 2024 having completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law. Prior to this she graduated from the University of Bristol with a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree.

Yasmin Dando-Husein

Yasmin is a paralegal assisting in all aspects of property matters for individual and corporate clients.
